8th Nepal-Bangladesh Commerce Secretary Level Meeting begins in Dhaka

The 8th Nepal-Bangladesh Commerce Secretary Level Meeting (CSLM) began in Dhaka today, Tuesday (January 13, 2026). The two-day meeting will continue from January 13-14, 2026.

The Nepalese delegation is being led by the country’s Commerce Secretary Dr. Ram Prasad Ghimire and the Bangladesh delegation is being led by Commerce Secretary Mr. Mahbubur Rahman.

The meeting will discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in various areas including trade, transit, connectivity and investment. In particular, emphasis will be placed on expanding bilateral trade by reducing tariff, para-tariff and non-tariff barriers and expediting the ongoing negotiations on the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA).

In addition, the meeting will also discuss issues of mutual cooperation to increase trade and transit facilities, develop road and rail connectivity, expand air connectivity, and make the transition process from LDCs smooth and sustainable.
