The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Dhaka highlighted Norway’s ongoing commitment to supporting Bangladesh in building climate resilience.

On Wednesday (19 November 2025) the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), in collaboration with Save the Children Bangladesh and the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (met.no), unveiled the landmark scientific report titled “The Future Climate of Bangladesh”. The report provides vital projections on temperature rises, sea-level threats, and extreme weather impacts, underlining the urgency of climate preparedness and adaptation policies.

Ambassador of Norway to Bangladesh, Mr. Gulbrandsen, emphasized: “The climate projections for Bangladesh are clear. Temperatures may rise up to 4.5 degrees, sea levels will threaten coastal communities, and more intense heatwaves will impact health, agriculture, and access to safe water. These are strong warnings. For Norway, supporting Bangladesh, BMD, and national partners in strengthening climate resilience is a priority. Bangladesh is a resilient nation, and this report reminds us that sustained commitment to climate action is essential. With elections ahead, I hope all political parties will consider these findings in their future vision for the country.”

The report was also supported in its publication and dissemination by the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO), Save the Children Bangladesh, and RIMES. This collaboration reflects the importance of international partnerships in addressing the pressing climate challenges faced by Bangladesh.
