A mutual visa waiver agreement for holders of diplomatic and official passports has been signed between Bangladesh and Mongolia. The agreement was signed at the conference room of the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Secretariat on Thursday (December 11, 2025) afternoon.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Ghani signed the agreement on behalf of Bangladesh. Non-resident Ambassador of Mongolia to Bangladesh Ganbolt Tambazao signed on behalf of Mongolia. Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Ghani delivered a welcome speech at the event.
Speaking at the event, the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs said, “We should convert this diplomatic goodwill into business-commercial contacts so that the full potential of our economic partnership is realized.”
The Mongolian ambassador said, “In addition to the visa waiver agreement in favor of diplomatic and official passport holders, a visa waiver agreement can also be signed for the general public.”
The Mongolian delegation included Ganbolt Tambazao, Non-Resident Ambassador of Mongolia to Bangladesh, and Nasrin Fatema Awal, Honorary Consul General of Bangladesh in Mongolia. The Bangladesh delegation included Faisal Ahmed, Additional Secretary, Immigration Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Mohammad Nur Alam, Director General (East Asia and Pacific Wing), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among others.
The Mutual Visa Exemption Agreement between Bangladesh and Mongolia has a total of 11 articles. As a result of its signing, citizens of both countries holding diplomatic and official passports will be able to enter, exit and transit through the territory of the other party without a visa for a period of up to 30 days. The agreement will remain in force for an indefinite period. Either party can terminate the agreement by giving 90 days’ written notice.
Visa exemption agreements are concluded with various countries with the aim of expanding Bangladesh’s bilateral economic and trade cooperation with various countries in the international arena and making inter-country relations more fruitful. So far, Bangladesh has signed visa exemption agreements with 34 countries.
