Desk Report:
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that the people of the country want to see a real and positive change. The change that will come from the 12th to the 13th will come based on the people’s desire for that change. We don’t want to see any more hegemony or fascism. We want to build a humane, just and corruption-free Bangladesh.
He said these things while addressing the public meeting of the 11-party electoral unity at the Chauddagram Pilot High School ground in Comilla at 10:30 am on Saturday (January 31).

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “We don’t want to see any more corrupt government. The 11-party alliance will run Bangladesh to implement the aspirations of the people, God willing.”
Referring to Chauddagram, he said, “Every inch of the soil in this area knows Abdullah Muhammad Taher. So there is no need to introduce him again. If you elect Syed Abdullah Md. Taher, you will get a senior minister from Comilla. Now the decision is yours.”

He said, “We do not want the victory of Jamaat-e-Islami; we want the victory of 18 crore people. The symbol of 11 parties in Chauddagram is a scale. Wherever the symbol is, we will all be with that symbol.”
Regarding the safety and respect of women, the Jamaat Amir said, “Are the mothers and sisters of the country safe in the hands of those who touch the honor of mothers? Even women wearing ordinary clothes want to see Jamaat in power today. Learn to respect women.”

He also said, “The sons of July have not fallen asleep yet. Show respect to dissent, go to the people with ideals. The people are the ones who have the final say.”
Regarding corruption, he said, “We want to root out all forms of corruption, including extortion. Honest people have nothing to fear from it.”
Regarding the rumors about Qawmi Madrasa, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “The rumors about closing Qawmi Madrasa are completely false. Qawmi Madrasa is the bearer of religious education. Why should we close it? If we get the opportunity to form a government, a decision will be taken after discussing with Befaq and other concerned parties.”
Regarding the youth, he said, “We remember those who gave their lives in July with deep respect. These young people do not want allowances, but employment. We want to hand over the country to the youth. 62 percent of our candidates are young—this will be the Bangladesh of youth.”
Promising to form a unity government, he said, “InshaAllah, a unity government will be formed. I also appeal to those who are competing with us—if we adhere to these three conditions, we want to embrace everyone and build a new Bangladesh.”
The conditions are—
1) Not to commit corruption and not to tolerate corruption,
2) Ensuring justice for all,
3) Implementing all the proposals of the July reforms.
Regarding religious coexistence, he said, “Not only Muslims but also people of other religions live in this country. Everyone will enjoy full religious freedom. In running the state, not religion, but ability and patriotism will be considered.”
Regarding the education system, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “It is not possible to build a good nation with the current education system. Better education means a better nation. Major reforms are needed here.”
