All preparations have been completed for the funeral of Begum Khaleda Zia, the three-time former Prime Minister, uncompromising leader of the democratic movement and Chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
The funeral will be held inside the grounds of the National Parliament Building, outside the building and along the entire Manik Mia Avenue. The authorities concerned have taken necessary security and discipline measures so that people from all walks of life can participate without any hindrance to pay their last respects to this national leader of the country. Special measures are also being taken for the public to remain on the roads around Manik Mia Avenue.
After the funeral, Begum Khaleda Zia will be buried with state honors next to martyred President and valiant freedom fighter Ziaur Rahman at around 3:30 pm. Apart from his family members, important figures of the state, government officials, foreign guests, diplomats and BNP-nominated leaders will be present at the time.
In order to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted burial, no one other than the designated persons will be allowed to enter the place. The movement of the general public will be restricted in Zia Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar until the burial is completed.
