Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a new program demanding elections in February based on July national charter. The program was announced at a press conference organized at the capital’s Moghbazar Al-Falah Auditorium at 12:30 pm today, Tuesday (September 30, 2025).

The party’s Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar presented a written statement at the press conference. The program was moderated by Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Propaganda and Media Department Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair. Assistant Secretary General and former MP Dr. AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad, Maulana Abdul Halim, Central Executive Council Member Mubarak Hossain, Dhaka Metropolitan South Amir Nurul Islam Bulbul, Dhaka Metropolitan North Nayeb Amir Abdur Rahman Musa, among others, were present at the time.

Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar said that the interim government formed on the basis of the will of the people after the successful mass uprising in July-August 2024 is working as per the recommendations of various reform commissions. However, due to lack of political consensus on some important issues, the solution is stuck. He mentioned that Jamaat-e-Islami has made two proposals to the government to give a legal basis to the July National Declaration and Charter – issuing a constitutional order and implementing the charter through a referendum before the elections.

He further said that the proportional representation (PR) system is essential for organizing free, fair and impartial elections. However, he alleged that no action is being taken by the government towards the rational demands of the people.

Jamaat-e-Islami reiterated the 5-point mass demand announced on September 15 and said that these demands have already been accepted by the people. Therefore, the government was immediately called upon to organize the 13th National Parliament election in February on the basis of the July National Charter. Otherwise, it was warned that the movement would be made more stringent.

Announced program:

October 01 – October 09: Mass communication, opinion exchange meetings, roundtable meetings and seminars across the country.

October 10: Mass processions in all divisional cities including the capital.

October 12: Submission of memorandums to the Deputy Commissioners across the country.

The party has called for unity to make these programs successful and realize the just demands of the people.
