Bangladesh ended a 22-year-long wait by defeating India in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers. Midfielder Sheikh Morsalin, who has recovered from injury, was the hero of the victory. His goal in the 11th minute of the match at the National Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday (November 18, 2025) brought about a historic victory.
Bangladesh took a 1-0 lead in the first half of the match against India through Sheikh Morsalin’s goal. Morsalin scored a goal in the 11th minute of the match to give the hosts the lead. Despite attacking one after another in the second half, Khalid Jamal’s team could not repay that goal.
Bangladesh captain Jamal Bhuiyan had announced in the pre-match press conference that they would end the last match of the year at home with a win. Bangladesh finally fulfilled that expectation. Hamza, Morsalin, and Jamal left the field with the love of the 22,000 spectators who had gathered at the stadium.
