BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman exchanged greetings with journalists and editors of the country’s media on Saturday at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Sheraton in Banani, the capital. The event, which began at 11:15 am, was attended by chief executives, top officials and senior journalists of various national dailies, electronic media, news agencies and online media outlets.
Executive Editor of Daily Dhaka Dialogue Mohammad Shajibul-al-Rajib was also present at the event and congratulated Tarique Rahman on being declared the party’s chairman.
At the greetings exchange event, Tarique Rahman exchanged greetings with the media personnel present and expressed respect and courtesy to the journalists on behalf of the party. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was with him at the event.
The event is seen by those concerned as a new initiative to strengthen direct communication and mutual understanding between the BNP leadership and the country’s journalist community. This created an opportunity to exchange views in a cordial atmosphere on the role and responsibility of the media in the political arena.
It is worth noting that Tarique Rahman was officially declared the party chairman at a meeting of the BNP standing committee held on Friday (January 9) night. He participated in the greeting exchange ceremony with top media personalities immediately after assuming the responsibility as chairman.
