Staff Correspondent:
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) nominated parliamentary candidate and former founding president of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP and party’s microfinance affairs secretary Dr. M A Quayum said that BNP is determined to ensure that ordinary people in the country are not harassed for political reasons in any way. He said that for a long time, the autocratic Awami League government has been perpetrating false cases, attacks and torture of disappearances and murders against BNP leaders and activists through political vendetta. BNP’s main goal is to restore people’s rights.

He said this at a prayer meeting and distribution of winter clothes among the needy in Purba Badda of the capital for the forgiveness of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
This former founding president of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP said that in the past years, we have seen how people have been harassed due to political differences. A culture of fear was created in the Awami League through lawsuits, attacks, arrests, torture. The people of the country do not want to see this kind of political oppression anymore. If BNP comes to power, the rule of law will be established and no one will be harassed because of political views.

He alleged that the Awami League government has looted the country’s economy in the name of development. It has used state institutions to achieve party interests and institutionalized corruption. As a result, the common people are in extreme distress today. Rising prices, unemployment, mismanagement in the education and health sectors have pushed the country’s future towards uncertainty.

BNP’s Microfinance Secretary Dr. Quayum said that if BNP gets the responsibility of running the country, it will work with the highest importance on the education, health and employment sectors. The education system will be developed in a way that is suitable for the times, so that the young generation can become skilled human resources. The quality of government hospitals will be improved to bring healthcare to the doorstep of the people and treatment will be made easily available to the poor.

The leader of the Dhaka-11 constituency, Mati O Ganamanush, further said that employment generation is one of the main priorities of BNP. New workplaces will be created for the youth by creating an industry and investment-friendly environment. At the same time, special initiatives will be taken for the economic empowerment of women by strengthening microfinance and entrepreneurship development programs.

Regarding the development of women, Dr. M A Quayum said that half of the country’s population is women. The real development of the country is not possible without taking them forward. BNP wants to develop the country by keeping women in mind. He said that special plans will be taken for women’s education, health, security and employment.
He also said that the fascist government has destroyed democracy and looted people’s wealth in the name of development. If BNP comes to power, a strict stance will be taken against corruption and utmost caution will be taken to ensure that there is no corruption in any sector.
At the end of his speech, Dr. M A Quayum said that BNP is a party of the people. The main objective of our politics is to establish people’s rights, democracy and justice. With the votes and love of the people, we want to build a peaceful, corruption-free and developed Bangladesh.
