The bodies of seven out of 16 people killed in a massive fire at a chemical warehouse and garment factory in the capital’s Mirpur’s Shialbari area have been identified by their relatives.
Rupnagar Police Station said that the identified bodies will be handed over to their relatives after autopsies and DNA samples are collected.
Rupnagar Police Station OC (Investigation) Mokhlesur Rahman told reporters on Wednesday (October 15, 2025) morning, “So far, seven bodies have been claimed and more relatives are coming to the hospital to identify the bodies. During the autopsy, DNA samples of relatives will also be collected along with the bodies. Those that are definitely identified will then be handed over to their relatives.”
According to fire service sources, a massive fire broke out after an explosion at a garment factory and chemical godown in the Shialbari area of Mirpur after 11:30 am on Tuesday (October 14).
