On the occasion of Victory Day, the Chief Adviser extended warm greetings to the people of Bangladesh both at home and abroad. “Dear fellow citizens—children, adolescents, youth, students, women and men, the young and the elderly—I convey my heartfelt salutations and respect to all of you. I wish all Bangladeshis a joyous Victory Day,” he said.

The Chief Adviser paid tribute to the heroes and martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence. “We remember with deep respect those who laid down their lives in the struggle for freedom and independence. Their contributions inspire us to stand against injustice and oppression,” he said.

He emphasized that the dawn of independence achieved through victory in the Liberation War was dimmed by years of dictatorship and fascism. “Through the July People’s Uprising, we have regained the opportunity to establish a just, corruption-free, independent, and democratic state,” he added.

The Chief Adviser highlighted the government’s ongoing reform initiatives. “The interim government has undertaken extensive reforms to build a strong foundation for a developed and well-governed Bangladesh, and we are steadily progressing towards successful completion with the participation of all citizens.”

Expressing concern over recent political violence, he said, “The attack on Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inquilab Platform, is not just an assault on an individual but an attack on the very existence of Bangladesh and our democratic path. His safety and treatment have been ensured, including advanced medical care in Singapore. The perpetrators will not be spared, wherever they may be.”

Calling for unity and vigilance, he stated, “We must protect our youth. Those who abandoned the country have realized that fearless young fighters are a barrier to their return. We will safeguard them, and ensure a peaceful and festive environment leading up to the elections.”

Regarding former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, the Chief Adviser assured, “Her health is being given the highest priority. The government is facilitating necessary medical care, including options for treatment abroad if needed, respecting her family’s wishes.”

On the importance of the upcoming elections and referendum, he said, “This election and referendum are historic for shaping Bangladesh’s future. Voting is not merely a formality; it is your active participation in building a new state and exercising your democratic rights.”

He called on political leaders to maintain responsibility, saying, “Treat one another as competitors, not adversaries. Ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election, so citizens have confidence in the democratic process.”

The Chief Adviser also highlighted key institutional reforms. “The judiciary has been given full administrative independence, marking a historic milestone. Police reforms and the National Human Rights Commission Ordinance 2025 have been enacted to ensure citizens can live in a secure and accountable state.”

Concluding, he urged national unity: “Standing at the threshold of a new history, it is our collective duty to move forward together. Inspired by the Liberation War and the July Uprising, let us build a safe, prosperous, and democratic Bangladesh for the next generation, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, or gender. I wish everyone a heartfelt Happy Victory Day.”
