Chief Advisor exchanges greetings with religious leaders on the occasion of Christmas

Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus exchanged greetings with representatives of the Christian community on the occasion of Christmas.

He exchanged greetings with representatives of the Christian community at the State Guest House Jamuna on Wednesday (24 December 2025).

Religious Advisor Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain, Chief Religious Leader of Catholic Christians of Bangladesh Archbishop Bijoy N. D’Cruz, President of the National Christian Fellowship of Bangladesh Bishop Philip P. Adhikari, Trustee of the Christian Religious Welfare Trust Dr. Benedict Alo de Rosario, President of the National Church Council Bangladesh Christopher Adhikari and other leading figures of the Christian community of the country were present at the event.

At that time, the leaders of the Christian religion mentioned the reputation of Professor Muhammad Yunus around the world and his role in improving the economy and overall situation of the country. They expressed hope that the upcoming elections will also be held in a fair and beautiful manner under the leadership of the Chief Advisor.

In his greeting speech, Archbishop Vijay N. D’Cruz referred to Jesus Christ as universal and said that keeping in mind the great ideals of forgiveness and human service of Jesus Christ, the people of Bangladesh are also celebrating Christmas with enthusiasm this year along with billions of people around the world.

Wishing the Chief Advisor a happy Christmas, Archbishop Vijay N. D’Cruz said, “The people trusted you to rebuild Bangladesh after the July Uprising. You are fulfilling that responsibility with great devotion. We pray that your efforts will be successful through a beautiful and peaceful election.”

The Chief Advisor wished everyone present, including the leaders, a happy Christmas and the upcoming New Year and said, “You are the reflection of society. When I see you, I can understand whether everything is okay or not.”

The Chief Advisor said, we want to build a healthy society. That is why the July Charter has been prepared to uphold the spirit of the people’s uprising. The country will take another step forward through a referendum on this charter.

He said that a referendum will also be held along with the parliamentary elections this time. The parliament will then take reform measures based on the verdict given by the people in the referendum.

The Chief Advisor called on religious leaders to play a role in making the people aware of the upcoming elections and referendum.

The leaders of the trust specially thanked the interim government at the event for donating 25 million taka to the Christian Religious Welfare Trust on the occasion of Christmas. They said that this donation is being distributed in three phases among 800 churches across the country.

Later, the Chief Advisor cut a cake with representatives of the Christian community on the occasion of Christmas.
