Today, Wednesday (February 25, 2026), the funeral prayers of former MP and senior politician Miah Abdullah Wazed were held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament after Zuhr. Imam Abu Raihan of the National Parliament Secretariat Mosque led the funeral prayers.
Earlier, his eldest son delivered a speech on behalf of the family and prayed for the forgiveness of his father’s departed soul. Later, Secretary of the National Parliament Secretariat, Ms. Kaniz Maula, paid tribute to the deceased by placing flowers on the coffin after the funeral prayers.
The funeral prayers were attended by 13th National Parliament Member Abu Wahab Akand (Mymensingh-4), Additional Secretary (Administration), Additional Secretary (F&PR), Joint Secretary (Human Resources), Sergeant-at-Arms and various levels of officials and employees of the Parliament Secretariat.
He passed away this morning at a hospital in the capital. He was 82 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and countless well-wishers and admirers.
Mia Abdullah Wazed was elected as a Member of Parliament from Brahmanbaria-4 constituency as a nominated candidate of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party in the 5th and 6th National Parliament elections held in 1991 and 1996. As a Member of Parliament, he made significant contributions to the infrastructural development, expansion of education, and expansion of industry and commerce in the area.
