On the instructions of Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain, an emergency meeting was held on Thursday (April 02, 2026) at the conference room of the ministry at the secretariat with representatives of health inspectors, assistant health inspectors, health assistants, sanitary inspectors and porters working in the health sector and various posts.
The meeting, chaired by Health Secretary Md. Kamruzzaman Chowdhury, was attended by Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services, Professor Dr. Prabhat Chandra Biswas, Additional Secretary of the Health Services Division, A. T. M. Saiful Islam, Monowara Ishrat, Nafriza Shyama, Additional Director General (Administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services Professor Dr. Md. Zahid Raihan, Director (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Jalal Uddin Mohammad Rumi, Deputy Director (Hospitals) Dr. Syed Abu Ahmed Shafi and other concerned officials were present.
Representatives from health workers presented their long-standing problems and deprivations in their jobs at the meeting. In the chairman’s speech, Health Secretary Md. Kamruzzaman Chowdhury said to the health workers, “We are aware of your demands and deprivations. Today, too, the Health Minister said at a program that your issues will be considered.”
The Health Secretary urged everyone to work sincerely to make the upcoming emergency measles vaccination program a success. He said, “The Prime Minister is aware of your situation and the Health Minister has also instructed to take all kinds of initiatives for your welfare. Measures will be taken to fulfill your just demands. Therefore, it is better to keep the demands separate from the upcoming emergency measles vaccination program.”
In the meeting, a committee was formed with the Additional Director General (Administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services, Professor Dr. Md. Zahid Raihan as its chairman to fulfill the just demands of the health workers. The committee has been asked to submit recommendations to the Ministry of Health after discussing with the concerned parties within 15 days.
The health workers who attended the meeting expressed their gratitude to the Health Minister and Health Secretary, including all those concerned, for inviting them. They also said that it is their responsibility to implement the vaccination program. They promised the government to make the utmost effort and hard work to make the upcoming emergency measles vaccination program a success.
