Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) has instructed election officials and law enforcement officers to crack down on any attempt to disrupt public security in the upcoming national elections.

The advisor gave this instruction as the chief guest at a law and order exchange meeting organized by the Rangpur Divisional Administration on Sunday (February 8, 2026) afternoon at the conference room of the Rangpur Divisional Commissioner’s Office to ensure the smooth conduct of the ‘Thirteenth National Parliament Election and Referendum-2026’.

The event was presided over by Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Gani and was addressed as special guests by Director General of RAB (SIF) AKM Shahidur Rahman BPM, Additional IGP (Crime and Ops) of Bangladesh Police Khandaker Rafiqul Islam BPM and Additional Director General (Ops and Training) of BGB Brigadier General Md. Sohrab Hossain Bhuiyan, ndc, psc. Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md. Shahidul Islam ndc delivered the welcome speech at the exchange of views. Among others, DIG of Rangpur Range Aminul Islam and Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Majid Ali BPM were present at the event.
The chief guest addressed the officials and members of the law enforcement agencies assigned to the elections, saying that no compromise will be made on the issue of law and order in the elections. Any attempt to disrupt public security must be firmly suppressed. The highest professionalism must be demonstrated to ensure the safety of the common people before, on and after the election. He said, your honesty, efficiency and professionalism will be the main strength of this election. He also said, if the ballot box is robbed or there is any irregularity at the polling station, no one, including the concerned Returning/Assistant Returning Officer and Presiding Officer, will be exempted. He said at this time that the circular issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs has mentioned that in this election, law enforcement agencies will be able to enter the premises of the polling station if necessary.
The advisor said that miscreants who can create obstacles and obstacles in the election must be arrested quickly and legal action taken. Any kind of mischief and activities that can hinder and affect the election must be suppressed with a strong hand. He said, intensive patrolling must be conducted for 04 (four) days before the election to create a fair and impartial electoral environment. Patrolling activities in pastures and remote areas must be conducted intensively in coordination with various forces.
In the President’s speech, the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs said that this time, in addition to the traditional issues, the training and technology of the law enforcement agencies will be used to the maximum extent. ‘Election Security App’, body-worn cameras, CCTV, drones and other technologies are being used. Moreover, this time the largest number of law enforcement officers (about 9 lakh) has been deployed. He said that this time the Presiding Officer will be able to perform his duties with courage. Along with him, at least 5-6 armed law enforcement officers will perform their duties at each center, including an armed Ansar. Moreover, there will be a striking force and patrol team. He also said that the success of any work depends on the right intention. Moreover, everyone is asking for a fair election. The Senior Secretary expressed his hope that with the joint efforts of everyone, the right intention, patience and morale will be intact and the best election of all time will be presented in the history of Bangladesh.
All the Deputy Commissioners of Rangpur Division, Superintendent of Police, Upazila Executive Officers, Regional/District/Upazila Election Officers and Officers-in-Charge of Police Stations of Rangpur Division, representatives of the Armed Forces Division and BGB of Rangpur Division, and all Deputy Police Commissioners and Officers-in-Charge of Police Stations of Rangpur Metropolitan Police participated in the meeting.
Later, in a briefing to the journalists, the Home Affairs Advisor said that the meeting on law and order at the divisional level has ended on the occasion of our national elections through Rangpur Division. The preparations of this division are good. He said that the people of Rangpur Division are peaceful compared to other divisions. Therefore, I am hopeful that the elections will be held peacefully in this division. At this time, in response to a question from the journalists, the Advisor said that there is no fear of rigging in the elections. The elections will be held in a 100% transparent, peaceful and festive atmosphere.
