General Secretary and young leader Tarique Rahman is on a hunger strike demanding the registration of ‘Aam Jantar Dal’. He is now seriously ill.
BNP leader Ishraq Hossain has stood by Tarique Rahman and expressed sympathy for his party’s demand for registration. He said that many registered political parties in the country are practically inactive and only active parties should be selected through the re-registration process.
Talking to reporters after meeting Tarique Rahman in front of the Agargaon Election Bhaban at 2 pm on Sunday (November 9, 2025), Ishraq Hossain said, “Many political parties are practically not working as parties. They have no activities, no political program. They do not even have an election manifesto of what they will do for the people in the future. It is important to know their perspective on democracy.”
He further said, “After seeing this reality, I felt that we should not sit at home. I stand by Tarique Rahman and demand that his party be registered quickly.”
