On Sunday, the people of Jessore observed Martyred Intellectuals Day by laying wreaths at the Shankarpur massacre memorial in Roypara, Jessore.
On Sunday (December 14, 2025), at 8:30 am, leaders and activists of the district administration, various political parties, educational institutions, social, cultural and professional organizations paid tribute by placing flowers at the massacre site in memory of the martyrs.
On behalf of the Jessore district administration, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashek Hasan and Superintendent of Police Syed Rafiqul Islam paid tribute on behalf of the police administration.
Freedom fighter Abdul Latif, District Council Chief Executive Officer SM Shaheen, Jessore Municipality Administrator Rafiqul Hasan, BNP Vice-Chairman Professor Nargis Begum, Khulna Divisional Acting Organizing Secretary Anindya Islam Amit, District BNP President Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, and leaders and activists of BNP’s organs and associate organizations paid tribute.
In addition, various political, socio-cultural organizations including Education Board Jessore, Muktijoddha Sontan Command Jessore, Public Works Department Jessore, Bangladesh Open University Regional Center, Narcotics Control Department Jessore, PTI, Social Forestry Department Regional Center, Local Government Engineering Department, Jayati Society, Rural Electricity Association-1, District Education Office, IDEB, JAGPA Jessore, National Women’s Organization, Public Health Engineering Department Jessore, Bangladesh Factories and Institutions Inspection Department, Water Development Board, Bangladesh Safe Food Authority, Education Engineering Department Jessore, Health Engineering Department Jessore, 250-bed General Hospital, BSCIC Jessore, Communist Party, District Shilpakala Academy, District Puja Udjavan Parishad, Jessore Zilla School, Jessore College, Government Girls’ High School, MM College, City College, Women’s College and Abdur Razzak College paid tribute to the martyred intellectuals.
After paying homage, the cultural organizations of Jessore recited the oath. A special discussion meeting was organized at the office of the Deputy Commissioner at 10 am on the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals Day.
