The internal traffic movement in Rangamati city is normal due to the indefinite road blockade in the three hilly districts to fulfill the eight-point demands called by Jumma students.

On Monday (September 29) morning, all the vehicles entered Rangamati from Dhaka, but no vehicle left Rangamati for Dhaka. The only transport within the district city is auto-rickshaw (CNG) movement. Shopping malls and markets have opened. In addition, the launch movement between the six upazilas of the district and the city is normal. However, the number of passengers is slightly less compared to other days, according to the launch owner’s association.

On the other hand, bus movement on the Rangamati-Bandarban, Rangamati-Khagrachari routes is closed. Although bus movement on the Rangamati-Chittagong route has been closed since the morning, the authorities have started selling bus tickets for the Rangamati-Chittagong route after 11 am.

Later, the administration imposed Section 144 in Khagrachhari city. On September 28, 3 people were killed and several others were injured in a clash in the Guimara area of Khagrachhari district. The organization, under the banner of Jumma Chhatra Janata, called for an indefinite road blockade in the three hill districts by raising eight demands on social media. At the same time, the post also mentioned that all tourism activities will be temporarily closed during the blockade. However, no statement from ‘Jumma Chhatra Janata’ was received on this matter.
