On Friday (August 29, 2025), several people including Gana Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur were injured in a clash in front of the Jatiya Party (JPA) office. Nur was taken to the hospital in a bloody state. He was later admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Following the incident, the Gana Odhikar Parishad announced a nationwide protest program. The party strongly condemned the attack and demanded action against the accused. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman also condemned the attack and called for a legal investigation.
Meanwhile, the Gana Sanghati Andolan and Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) held a protest march to protest the attack. They condemned the attack, calling Nurul Haque Nur a fellow fighter of the anti-fascist movement.
Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman called the attack part of a deep-rooted plot and conspiracy. He said this was not an isolated incident.
Tensions are rising in the political arena over the attack on Nurul Haque Nur. Party leaders and activists have taken up various programmes to protest the attack and demanded strict action against the attackers.
Nurul Haque Nur is undergoing treatment and concerns have been expressed in political circles, wishing him well.
