Sajjadanshin of Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif, Hazrat Shah Jahangir Tajul Arefin Maulana Syed Mohammad Areful Hai Sahib, breathed his last on October 24, 2025.
With his demise, a glorious era of the Tariqa came to an end. He was a spiritual personality who embodied the essence of Islam not only in words but also in deeds and human service.
On October 25, his Namaz-e-Janaza was held at the Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif premises in Satkania, Chittagong, which was conducted by his worthy son and successor Hazrat Dr. Maulana Syed Mohammad Maksudur Rahman.
For more than two centuries, Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif has been known as the main center of human service based on the Quran, Sunnah, Sharia and Tariqa. He worked tirelessly to liberate the oppressed, educate the illiterate and ensure security for the homeless.
Numerous humanitarian initiatives have been developed under his leadership – schools, hospitals, irrigation systems, roads and public welfare projects – which have brought light to the lives of millions of people.
At the core of his leadership was selfless service, compassion and love for humanity. He believed that devotion to Allah is fulfilled only when it is expressed through service to the creation. His work in education, health and rural development has proven that religion and development are never separate – but rather complementary to each other.
