Dinajpur Correspondent:
National Citizen Party (NCP) North Region Chief Organizer Sarjis Alam has warned that if they are not allocated the desired Shapla symbol, they will be confronted politically. He also raised questions about the impartiality and transparency of the Election Commission (EC).
He made these comments at the coordination meeting of the National Citizen Party (NCP) Dinajpur district branch at the Shilpakala Academy today, Sunday (October 19, 2025).
Sarjis Alam raised the question, on the basis of which law, the Shapla symbol cannot be allocated to any political party or NCP? He claimed that legal experts have said that there is no legal obstacle to allocating the Shapla symbol to the NCP. He also questioned the Election Commission’s procrastination and said, “As a political party, we asked for the allocation of the Shapla symbol on the day we applied. Why haven’t they allocated the marker list symbol in the past few months?”
He included this situation of the Election Commission in the capriciousness and complained, or they could not show the courage to do this under the influence of someone.
The NCP leader also said that the election cannot be transparent under an election commission that cannot give them the Shapla symbol they deserve. We will hold elections with the Shapla symbol.
In other contexts, Sarjis Alam said that the interim government should express regret over the attack on the July fighters. He also mentioned that the July Charter should have a legal basis and there should be a guarantee of implementation.
Central Joint Convener Dr. Atiq Mojahid, Joint Chief Coordinator Abdul Ahad were also present in this coordination meeting held under the chairmanship of NCP Dinajpur District Branch Chief Coordinator Faisal Karim Soel. Dinajpur District Leaders Ekramul Haque, Abir, Rezaul Karim and others spoke.
