Theft at Kaliakoir factory: CID raids arrest employee, recovers equipment worth Tk 5 lakh

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Gazipur District and Metro Units of the police have recovered a large amount of stolen computer equipment from the sample section of Interstaff Apparels Limited located in Chandra Pallibidyut area under Kaliakoir police station in Gazipur. An employee of the factory has been arrested in this incident.

The arrested person is Riyadul Islam Siam (19). He is the son of Osman Gani of Ratanpur village of Raipura police station in Narsingdi district.

According to CID sources, between 10 pm on March 14, 2026 and 6 am on March 15, an unknown gang of thieves stole various valuable equipment including desktop computers, laptops, monitors and other items from the sample section by turning off the NVR recording system of the CCTV camera. The estimated value of the stolen goods is around Tk 5 lakh.

After the incident, the factory authorities filed a complaint with Kaliakair Police Station and the matter was reported to the CID. Later, on the instructions of the higher authorities of the CID Gazipur unit, the CID inspected the scene and started a shadow investigation. The involvement of factory employee Riyadul Islam Siam was found through interrogation of the suspects with the help of information technology.

Later, on the night of April 2, the CID conducted a raid and recovered various equipment including stolen desktop computers, laptops and monitors from the sunshade of the emergency stairs next to the scene, as shown by the accused.

During interrogation, the accused admitted that he had sold some of the stolen equipment online. Tk 22,100 was recovered from him. In addition, he also confessed to embezzling money by hacking the IDs and credit cards of various people for a long time. 6 credit cards of different banks were recovered from him.

A case (No. 08, dated April 3, 2026, Section 381/411 Penal Code) has been registered at Kaliakair Police Station in this incident. The case is currently being investigated by the Gazipur District and Metro Units of the CID.
