US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen paid a courtesy call on Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam MP. The meeting, held at the Minister’s Office at the Secretariat on Sunday (April 12, 2026), resulted in fruitful discussions on various issues of mutual interest, especially the ongoing development activities of Bangladesh’s road, rail and shipping sectors and the prospects for future cooperation.
During the meeting, Road Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam said that under the leadership of the Honorable Prime Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman, the government is working tirelessly to make the country’s communication system modern, safe and sustainable. He expressed optimism about the potential investment and technical assistance of the United States in this sector.
US Ambassador Brent T. Christensen welcomed the current government and said that the United States will continue to support road safety, modern transportation systems, and sustainable infrastructure development. He expressed his strong commitment to further advance Bangladesh’s communications sector through strengthening mutual cooperation, increasing investment, and exchanging technical knowledge.
