The possibility of direct air connectivity between Bangladesh and Vietnam is gaining momentum, as Vietnam expects to launch direct flights between Dhaka and Hanoi from next year, according to the Vietnamese Ambassador to Bangladesh.
Vietnam Ambassador Nguyen Manh Cuong shared the optimism while speaking to journalists at a press conference held at the Vietnam Embassy in Dhaka on Monday evening (December 22, 2025). Bangladeshi media personality Mohammad Shajibul-Al-Rajib, Executive Editor of ‘Daily Dhaka Dialogue’, was present along with others.

The Ambassador said he hopes Vietnam Airlines will be able to start operating direct flights on the Dhaka route as early as next month. He described the move as a significant milestone that would strengthen people-to-people contact and deepen economic ties between the two countries.
He noted that Bangladesh and Vietnam are currently in the final stage of renewing the Air Services Agreement (ASA), which will provide the legal framework for expanding air connectivity between the two nations.
“We are at the very final stage. I hope that we will be able to sign the agreement by this month,” the Ambassador said.
Ambassador Nguyen Manh Cuong expressed confidence that the introduction of direct flights would create new opportunities for bilateral trade, tourism, and investment, while also making travel easier for business leaders and government officials.
He added that enhanced air connectivity would further strengthen cooperation between Bangladesh and Vietnam and give fresh momentum to the steadily growing bilateral relationship.
