Voting for the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum has begun in Rangamati-299 parliamentary constituency in a peaceful atmosphere. Voting began at 7:30 am on Thursday (February 12).
Voting has been underway peacefully since the morning. Voters of different ages were seen standing in line at polling stations since the morning despite the cold.
There are CCTV cameras at various centres. According to sources from the Rangamati District Returning Officer, voting has begun in the district in a peaceful atmosphere.
There are 7 candidates contesting in the only parliamentary constituency in the district. Out of which only one independent candidate, Pahel Chakma, is running with the football symbol, BNP nominee Dipen Dewan is running with the paddy header symbol, Jatiya Party nominee Ashok Talukder is running with the plow symbol, Bangladesh Revolutionary Workers Party nominee Jui Chakma is running with the spade symbol, Khelafat Majlis nominee Abu Bakar Siddique is running with the rickshaw symbol, Islami Andolan nominee Jasim Uddin is running with the fan symbol and Ganadhikar Parishad nominee Md. Abul Bashar is running with the truck symbol.
Voting is being held in this constituency at a total of 213 centers, including 20 Helisti centers in 10 upazilas. There are a total of 5 lakh 9 thousand 267 voters in the district. Police, BGB, army and Ansar members are on duty in the district to ensure that the election is conducted in a fair and peaceful manner.
Meanwhile, BNP candidate Dipen Dewan cast his vote at Rangamati Government College center at 9:30 am.
At that time, he expressed his confidence in winning the election, expressing hope for a fair election and a large turnout of voters.
On the other hand, the candidates said that the voting has been going on smoothly and peacefully so far.
