Workers of a ready-made garment factory have protested by blocking the highway in Gazipur demanding arrears of wages and allowances. This caused traffic to be blocked on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway for about an hour and a half. Later, traffic movement normalized after law enforcement officers lathicharged the workers and removed them.
Workers of Shinwan Garments Co., Ltd., also known as Bulbul Knitting, went on strike at 7 am on Thursday (September 11). Traffic movement on both sides of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway was stopped due to the road blockade by Shinwan Garments workers demanding arrears of wages. Police reached the spot and brought the situation under control, and traffic movement on the road normalized.
