There have been repeated clashes between university students and locals over the harassment of a student of Chittagong University (CU). 70 students, including the university’s Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Md. Kamal Hossain, have been injured in the clash.

The Hathazari Upazila administration has imposed Section 144 from Sunday (August 31, 2025) 2 pm to tomorrow (September 1) midnight.
During this time, all types of meetings, demonstrations, processions, mass gatherings, carrying explosives, firearms and all types of indigenous weapons, as well as the presence or movement of five or more people together in the relevant areas have been completely banned.
