Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Mahbubur Rahman passed away at 6.25 am on Friday (April 17, 2026) while undergoing treatment at the Square Hospital in the capital. Inna-Lillahi wa Inna Ilahi Rajiun
He was 58 years old at the time of his death. He was admitted to the hospital on the 13th due to low blood platelets. He was later diagnosed with malaria.
At the time of his death, he left behind a wife, three daughters and numerous admirers.
Mahbubur Rahman was an officer of the 13th BCS Customs and Excise Cadre. He joined the post of Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce on February 25, 2025.
