After the end of the three-day state mourning declared for the late former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has expressed deep gratitude to the countrymen, well-wishers, government, diplomats and all concerned at home and abroad.
In a condolence message, he said that the love, condolences and prayers received from people across the country and abroad during this time of mourning have deeply moved the Zia family. He mentioned that these days have further clarified that Begum Khaleda Zia was a symbol of different meanings and inspiration to different people. For many, she was an inspiration for uncompromising and a firm stand for faith, which has spread beyond the boundaries of politics and has influenced various levels of society.
Tarique Rahman expressed special gratitude to the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus and his advisory council. He said that it was due to their leadership and quick coordination that it was possible to complete the last rites of Begum Khaleda Zia in a dignified and respectful manner in a short time.
He also thanked the neighboring and friendly countries, heads of state and government of the country and abroad, diplomats and global partners for their sympathy and solidarity in the international arena. He mentioned the presence of dignitaries from different countries at the funeral, the messages of condolences, the feelings written in the condolence book, the reactions on social media and the official statements of various missions and institutions in Bangladesh as an unprecedented honor.
He expressed gratitude for the sense of responsibility and respect of the members of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, administration and various ministries concerned. He especially thanked the Presidential Guard Regiment and said that their guard of honor and last salute reflected the highest respect for the life and contributions of Begum Khaleda Zia.
Besides, expressing gratitude to those who silently performed their duties behind the scenes, Tarique Rahman said that with the collective efforts of everyone, the nation has been able to hold the memory of the national leader with dignity.
Finally, he expressed his deep greetings to the people of Bangladesh and said that the spontaneous presence and respect of people from every corner of the country will be unforgettable for the Zia family. On behalf of BNP and the Zia family, he once again sincerely thanked everyone for standing by their side during this time of mourning and remembrance.
