Students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) have blocked Shahbagh for the second day with three-point demands.
Engineering students from different parts of the country gathered at Shahbagh from 10 am today (August 27, 2025) as per the previously announced program ‘March to Dhaka’. As a result, traffic on the road was stopped.
The students’ demands are-
1) To enter the engineering ninth grade or assistant engineer or equivalent post, everyone must pass the recruitment exam and must have a minimum B.Sc degree. There is no promotion through quota, and promotions cannot be given even by creating an equivalent post under another name.
2) The recruitment exam for technical tenth grade or sub-assistant engineer or equivalent post should be opened to those with a minimum diploma and a higher degree in the same discipline.
3) Appropriate legal action should be taken against those using the engineer title without a B.Sc degree in engineering. Non-accredited B.Sc. Engineering courses should be brought under IEB-BAET accreditation by following the appropriate process.
