A clash occurred between the two universities in the Khagan area of Ashulia, Savar, over allegations of an attack by some students of Daffodil International University and some students of City University. At least fifty students from both universities were injured in the clash, which lasted from 12 midnight to 4:30 am on Sunday (October 26, 2025). Vandalism and arson also occurred during this time.
Eyewitnesses said that in the evening, a City University student on a motorcycle in front of Bachelor Paradise Hostel spat on a Daffodil student. When the argument started, around 9 pm, 40-50 City University students attacked the Daffodil students’ hostel with country-made weapons and brickbats. Several rooms were vandalized and several students were injured.
Tensions flared after a video of the incident went viral on social media. Hundreds of students from Daffodil International University gathered at the scene at night. The university’s proctoral team and police tried to calm them down when the agitated students tried to move towards City University.
Police have been deployed to avoid any untoward situation.
