A delegation of the European Union Election Observation Mission paid a courtesy call on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Bangladesh Md. Ali Hossain Fakir at the Police Headquarters today, Monday (March 9, 2026). The delegation was led by the Head of the Mission, H. E. Mr. Roger Clayton.
During the meeting, the head of the delegation praised the professionalism, dedication and coordinated efforts of the Bangladesh Police to maintain law and order during the elections. He said that the electoral training of the police, the use of body-worn cameras while performing their duties and the ‘Pocket Book’ on security responsibilities played an effective role. At the time, he handed over a certificate of appreciation to the IGP on behalf of the European Union Election Observation Mission.
The IGP said that the role of foreign observers during the elections was commendable. He said that Bangladesh Police had taken necessary measures to ensure the security of foreign observers and journalists coming from different countries, organizations and institutions.
Senior officials of Bangladesh Police were present during the meeting. After the meeting, both sides expressed hope to further strengthen mutual cooperation in the future.
