The current government is committed to making the Bangladesh of the future child-friendly – Minister for Women and Children Affairs

Minister for Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs, Professor Dr. A. Z. M. Zahid Hossain, has said that the current government is committed to making the Bangladesh of the future child-friendly.

The minister said this while delivering the chief guest speech at a program organized by Bangladesh Shishu Academy on the occasion of Shubo Nabobarsho 1433 at the academy premises in Dhaka on Tuesday (April 14, 2026). The program was presided over by Yasmin Parveen, Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

The minister said that when the martyred President Ziaur Rahman, the proclaimer of Bangladesh’s independence, took the responsibility of running the country, he realized that if the next generation of Bangladesh is to be truly prepared to face the challenges of the 21st century, then children need to be given proper patronage. For that purpose, he established Bangladesh Shishu Academy and Shishu Park.

He said that due to the visionary leadership of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, the scope of Shishu Academy has expanded up to the district level; although later due to various reasons, Shishu Academy did not get proper patronage for the development of children.

He also said that the current government is very vigilant in realizing the rights of children. The government led by the current Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will work all-out for the development of children in every district and up to the upazila level, along with education, to expand the horizons of children’s thinking and thinking and to make them competent leaders of the future.

He expressed optimism and said that 1433 Bangabd will inspire us to move forward properly and the next Baishakh i.e. 1434 Bangabd will be even more beautiful.

In her speech, Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Yasmin Parveen extended New Year greetings to all present and said that the moment of saying goodbye to the old and welcoming the new on the first day of Baishakh opens the door to new hopes and possibilities in our lives.

He expressed optimism that the participation of children in the program organized by Bangladesh Shishu Academy will play an important role in sowing the seeds of Bengali culture and tradition among the future generations. He called on everyone to work together for the creative development of children.

Bangladesh Shishu Academy Director General Md. Arju Ara Begum delivered the welcome speech at the program. Among others, Minister Professor Dr. A. Z. M. Zahid Hossain’s wife Dr. Sharifa Karim Swarna, senior officials of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and its subordinate departments and organizations, students and instructors of Bangladesh Shishu Academy, guardians and journalists were present at the program.

After the brief discussion, a pleasant cultural program was presented on the academy premises with the participation of students of Bangladesh Shishu Academy.
