Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka Yao Wen paid a courtesy call on Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Barrister Kaiser Kamal, MP, at his office.
During the meeting, the Deputy Speaker said that China is one of the major development partners of Bangladesh. Chinese technology in various sectors including agriculture, health and information technology is playing an important role in the overall development of Bangladesh. He also emphasized on making the process of going to China for higher education easier for Bangladeshi students.
He further said that he has stepped down from his party position to keep the post of Deputy Speaker neutral and expressed hope that the opposition party will make the parliament more effective and vibrant through a constructive role.
The Chinese Ambassador said that bilateral cooperation between China and Bangladesh is increasing day by day. He mentioned that the Chinese Communist Party considers BNP as a democratic party and the party’s leadership has made important contributions to the development of Bangladesh. At that time, he invited the Deputy Speaker to visit China.
During the meeting, various bilateral issues including increasing cooperation in the education, health and technology sectors were discussed.
At that time, both sides presented souvenirs to each other.
Senior officials of the Chinese Embassy and relevant officials of the National Parliament Secretariat were present at the meeting.
