Government increases sacrificial animal skin by 2 taka per square foot ahead of Eid-ul-Adha

The government has fixed the price of sacrificial animal skin in advance of Eid-ul-Adha. This year, the price of salted cow skin per square foot in Dhaka has been increased by 2 taka compared to last year.

This year, the price of salted cow skin per square foot in Dhaka has been fixed at 62 to 67 taka, which was 60 to 65 taka last year. On the other hand, the price of salted cow skin per square foot outside Dhaka has been fixed at 57 to 62 taka, which was 55 to 60 taka last year.

This information was given to journalists after the meeting of the Committee for Ensuring Fair Management of Sacrificial Matters in the Conference Room of the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday (May 13, 2026).

Meanwhile, this time, the price of salted cow skin per square foot has been fixed at 25 to 30 taka for khasi and 22 to 25 taka for khari. This price will be effective in Dhaka and outside Dhaka.

At this time, the Commerce Minister said, this time too, the government will provide free salt worth 176 million taka for preserving the skins. The skins will be preserved in traders and mosque madrasas in every area.

We are working to ensure that none of our skins are wasted during the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha. Each district and upazila administration will call and train representatives of the relevant mosques and madrasas. They will preserve the skins after the sacrifice.

Earlier, a special meeting of the “Committee to Ensure Proper Management of Sacrifice-Related Matters” was held under the chairmanship of Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir. Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan, Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain (Kaikobad), Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid and State Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Sheikh Faridul Islam attended the meeting.
