Ambassadors and High Commissioners of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member countries posted in Dhaka paid a courtesy call on Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Bangladesh Secretariat today, Tuesday (12 May 2026).

During the meeting, Tarique Rahman was congratulated on assuming office as Prime Minister on behalf of the OIC member countries. At the same time, the member countries expressed their interest in further strengthening cooperation and relations with Bangladesh in various sectors including investment, trade, education, health, textile and pharmaceutical industries. They also expressed their firm determination to stand by Bangladesh.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman thanked the OIC member countries on behalf of the government and the people for their good wishes and support. He recalled the brotherly relations of Bangladesh with the OIC member countries since the time of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and expressed hope that these relations would be further strengthened in the future.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of increasing people-to-people contact. He also expected continued support from OIC member countries for a sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis.
Ambassadors and High Commissioners of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Palestine, Algeria, Brunei, Egypt, Indonesia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Maldives, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates were present in the meeting. In addition, Heads of Mission of Iran, Iraq and Libya were also present.
Among others, Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir, Foreign Secretary Md. Farhadul Islam and Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Atiqur Rahman Rumon were present.
