A student-public rally was held in Bogra-2 (Shibganj) constituency amidst excitement and emotion, where Mir Mahbubur Rahman (Mir Snigdh), the twin brother of martyr Mir Mughd, joined the BNP. Thousands of students and public were present at the rally organized by the upazila and municipal BNP at Mir Mughd Square in Shibganj at 4 pm on Sunday; there was a convoy of about 500 motorcycles. The rally was presided over by Mir Shahe Alam, the BNP nomination aspirant for that constituency.
At the rally, Mir Snigdh said, “I feel proud to have the opportunity to deliver my first political speech from the great seat of the holy land of Shibganj. Murderer Hasina (record political term) has killed 2,000 brothers and sisters, including my brother, and injured 20,000 people.”
He further claimed, ”BNP has suffered the most in disappearances, murders and oppression.” Mir Snigdh said that since childhood, he had seen Begum Khaleda Zia’s uncompromising leadership and joined BNP inspired by that ideal. He mentioned that even after his brother’s death, they have rejected the killer Hasina’s blank check offer and will continue to demand justice.
Mir Snigdh also said that by uniting all the youth including Mir Snigdh and July fighters across the country—through the implementation of Tarique Rahman’s 31 points—the fascist system will be abolished forever. He said, ”Murderer Hasina will be tried in this country.”
In his speech as the president of the rally, Mir Shahe Alam said, ”BNP is the biggest force of July; It was proven again when Shaheed Mir Mughd’s brother Snigdh joined the BNP.”
It is worth noting that Shaheed Mir Mughd was killed in police firing – he had shouted ‘Pani Lagbe Pani’ while feeding water to the July fighters, which touched the hearts of crores of people. A large-scale rally was held in Shibganj on this day to pay tribute to the memory of Mir Mughd and stand by his family.
