Russian Ambassador to Dhaka Alexander Khojin has called for reducing tensions between the two Asian neighbors, Bangladesh and India.
He made this call at a press briefing titled “Political Results of 2025” held at the Russian Embassy in Dhaka today, Monday (December 22, 2025). He began the briefing by expressing condolences over the tragic death of Inqilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi.
The Russian Ambassador emphasized on reducing tensions between India and Bangladesh, saying, “It is necessary to resolve these tensions as soon as possible.”
He also made it clear that Russia will not interfere in the bilateral relations of the two countries.
The Ambassador also said that Russia has always prioritized diplomatic solutions. Special military operations have been launched to protect the people of southeastern Ukraine. Russia has kept the path of a political solution open for peace, but the Ukrainian regime is structurally unprepared for talks. Dialogue between Russia and the United States continues, where efforts are being made to resolve the core issues.
Bangladesh-Russia bilateral relations were also discussed at the press briefing. These include trade and energy cooperation, progress on the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project, and assistance in cultural, educational, and human resource development. The ambassador said that the Russian House in Dhaka is playing an important role in education and there is growing interest in higher education among the youth.
Director of the Russian House, Alexandra Khlevnoy, outlined various cultural and educational activities in 2025. Notable among them were concerts and masterclasses by musicians from the Moscow Conservatory, celebrations of Victory Day in World War II, events on Russian National Flag Day, and the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Russian diplomacy.
In the field of education, the Russian government has increased the number of annual state scholarships for Bangladeshi students to 200, from 65 five years ago. Currently, more than 6,000 Bangladeshis have graduated from Russian universities and are making significant contributions to various sectors of the country.
In 2026, the Russian House will give more importance to education. The Russian language program will be expanded and university cooperation will be deepened. After the press briefing, the journalists present were invited to the screening of the RT documentary “Nuremberg: Time for Truth” to be held at the Russian House the following day. The ambassadors and diplomats expressed their gratitude to the journalists for their cooperation and trust.
