The Daily Dhaka Dialogue Editor extended greetings on the occasion of the 128th anniversary of the Philippines’ Independence Day

On Monday (June 15, 2026), the 128th anniversary of the Philippines’ Independence Day was celebrated with a grand diplomatic reception at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The Daily Dhaka Dialogue Editor Engr. Mohammad Shajibul-al-Rajib, participated as an invited guest and extended greetings.

Shama Obaid Islam, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, was present as the chief guest at the event.

Ambassador Nina P. Keynglet, in her speech, said that the Philippines has always believed in sovereign equality, human rights, peaceful coexistence and a rules-based international system. She praised Bangladesh’s development progress and said that the relations between the two countries are now moving towards more pragmatic and result-oriented cooperation.

The State Minister for Foreign Affairs highlighted the long-standing diplomatic relations, mutual cooperation and future prospects of Bangladesh and the Philippines. He further mentioned that as two countries at risk from climate change, Bangladesh and the Philippines are working together on disaster management, climate resilience and global cooperation.

The Daily Dhaka Dialogue Editor Engr. Mohammad Shajibul-al-Rajib exchanged courtesy calls with ambassadors, high commissioners and diplomats of various countries at the event.

Senior journalists from various media outlets, diplomatic correspondents and embassy officials participated in the event.
