Philippines Non-Resident Ambassador to the Maldives Nina P. Kinglet and Maldivian Minister of Health, Family and Welfare Gila Ali held a meeting to enhance cooperation in healthcare, human resource development and professional exchange programs.
Various possibilities for mutual cooperation in the health sector of the two countries were discussed in a courtesy call organized at the Ministry of Health in the capital of the Maldives, Male on Wednesday (June 10, 2026).
Minister Gila Ali highlighted the priority needs of the health sector of the Maldives, citing the experience of highly skilled doctors and healthcare professionals in the Philippines. He discussed opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in various areas, including training, increasing regulatory capacity in the health sector, development of the health system and professional exchange.
Both sides expressed interest in further strengthening mutual relations through improving the quality of healthcare, building skilled human resources and exchanging experiences.
At that time, the Minister of State for Health, Family and Welfare of the Maldives, Khadija Abdul Samad Abdullah, Permanent Secretary Aishath Samia, Director General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr. Ahmed Ashraf and Deputy Director General Aiminath Shaina Abdullah were present.
