Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanashyam Bhandari has expressed optimism that diplomatic relations and bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and Nepal will reach new heights in the coming days.

He expressed this optimism at a reception organized in honor of Bangladeshi journalists and media workers in Dhaka on Sunday (June 14, 2026) evening.

Ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari praised the constructive role of media workers in strengthening the relations between the people of Bangladesh and Nepal. At the same time, he expressed gratitude to the Nepalese Embassy in Bangladesh for the cooperation and support of journalists.

He said that both countries are committed to fulfilling the expectations of the people of the two countries and realizing their aspirations. Both sides are encouraged and optimistic as new areas of cooperation have opened up between Bangladesh and Nepal.

The Ambassador said, “I am confident that our diplomatic relations and bilateral cooperation will reach new heights. Because there is a great interest in both Bangladesh and Nepal to take new initiatives and resume the stalled talks in some areas.”

He also said, “I am hopeful that in the coming days we will be able to make further progress and touch new milestones.”

Speaking about his tenure in Bangladesh, the Ambassador mentioned that he is about to complete four years. However, he made it clear that this is not a farewell reception.

He said in a humorous tone, “Do not take this as a farewell ceremony and do not publish the news as such. We still have a lot to achieve together.”

AKM Moinuddin, President of Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB), also delivered a speech at the event.

In addition, senior journalists from various media outlets, diplomatic correspondents and embassy officials participated in the event.
