Gazipur Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Md. Nurul Karim Bhuiyan spoke as a special guest at the event. He said that at different times, people come to him with various types of lobbying, which sometimes puts him in embarrassing situations. In this regard, he mentioned an experience and said that once, annoyed by the lobbying, he told a lady, “My father’s name is Ain, and my mother’s name is Ain. So I will not be able to take a decision beyond any lobbying.”
He also said that the rule of law should be supreme in the case of all those involved in the law, including judges and lawyers. Everyone should be tried on the basis of law.
Regarding legal aid, the Deputy Commissioner said that the general public needs to be more informed about legal aid. If people know how to file a case and get government legal aid, then the poor and helpless people will easily get justice. He mentioned that through legal aid, people will be able to get legal benefits at government expense under the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) or arbitration system.
