State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yaser Khan Chowdhury said that in this era of technology, IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) has further expanded the scope of our media. However, it is important to ensure transparency and accountability of this medium.
He said these things at a view-sharing meeting organized with members of the Association of IPTV Owners Bangladesh at the conference room of the Department of Information on Sunday (April 26, 2026).
The State Minister said that the government believes in free media and free flow of information. IPTVs can be an excellent platform to highlight the voices of marginalized people. IPTVs must be operated with respect for state policies. Besides, they must also refrain from spreading misinformation or confusion.
Prime Minister’s Information and Broadcasting Advisor Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman said, “In this period of building Digital Bangladesh, it is important to ensure that IPTVs maintain professionalism and provide objective news.” He urged the association members to work in coordination with the government for the orderly development of the IPTV industry.
At the meeting, the leaders of the Association of IPTV Bangladesh highlighted the problems, prospects and various aspects of the registration and management of IPTVs in the light of government policies in this industry. They emphasized government cooperation and formulation of specific policies for the development of this sector.
At that time, they greeted the State Minister and Advisor with flowers.
Senior officials of the Department of Information, IPTV owners and representatives were present at the meeting.
