A climate-resilient integrated model farm is underway in Basatbari under the (SARPOTE) project funded by Islamic Relief Canada and implemented by Islamic Relief Bangladesh in Nawabganj Upazila of Dinajpur. In continuation of this (Sunday, August 31, 2025), a field day was held at the initiative of Shernagar Uttarpara Swanirbhar Dal of Putimara Union of Nawabganj Upazila.

Nawabganj Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Asaduzzaman was present as the chief guest at the event. He thanked Islamic Relief Bangladesh for this timely initiative and said that currently the whole world is concerned about the increase in temperature. Its impact is most on the marginalized communities. The climate-resilient integrated model farm in Basatbari is a timely step, which will create alternative income opportunities for vulnerable families.

He discussed in detail various climate-resilient strategies in the livestock sector. These include building houses facing south and high, ensuring ventilation and light, using wet cloth on the roof to combat excessive heat, feeding livestock with extra water and regular vaccination, making silage for cattle, building lofts for goats, and he also highlighted the importance of vegetable farming, fish farming and making vermicompost.

At the event, the implementing authority of the model farm, Mosa: Ivy Begum, highlighted the success of her farm management and answered various questions from the attendees. Later, the chief guest and about 50 members of the self-help group toured the model farm. Project-related officials of Islamic Relief Bangladesh were also present at the event.
