The body of a person named Nurul Haque alias Nural Pagla was taken out of the grave in Goalanda Upazila of Rajbari and taken to the Padma intersection area of the Dhaka-Khulna highway and burned.
The incident took place in the Juran Mollapara area of Ward No. 5 of Goalanda Municipality after Friday (September 5, 2025) afternoon after Friday prayers.
The grave of Nurul Haque, who recently died, was buried a little above the ground and made similar to the Kaaba Sharif. There had been tension among the Towhidi people for the past few days regarding this. The local administration was trying to resolve the issue by taking both sides with them. Meanwhile, after the Friday prayers, as per the previous announcement, the Towhidi people from different places gathered at Shaheed Mohiuddin Ansar Club and protested. They broke the gates of Nurul Haque’s house and court and entered inside. Later, they vandalized and set fire to the Darbar Sharif.
Although the police were already there, they were unable to control the situation due to the large number of people. Later, the army and RAB arrived to bring the situation under control. Then the Towhidi crowd retreated and protested some distance from Nurul Haque’s house. At that time, members of the Fire Service and Civil Defense arrived and tried to control the fire. Then, the fire service rescue workers rescued the injured and sent them to the Goalanda Upazila Health Complex Hospital. Some time later, the Towhidi crowd attacked the house for the second time. Then, they took the body of Nurul Haque from the grave in front of the house and left. Later, they took the body to the Padma intersection of the Dhaka-Khulna highway and burned it.
