Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate for Dhaka-11 constituency Dr. M. A. Qayyum surrenders and gets bail in a murder attempt case filed by Kadamtali Police Station.

On Thursday (December 18, 2025), Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman granted his bail after a hearing. Qayyum’s lawyer Advocate Syed Nazrul Islam confirmed the matter.

According to court sources, Dr. M. A. Qayyum surrendered himself in court today in a murder attempt case filed by Kadamtali Police Station in 2015. Later, lawyer Syed Nazrul Islam applied for bail on his behalf, and the court granted it after the hearing.

After getting bail, Dr. M. A. Qayyum told reporters, “The previous dictatorial government filed numerous missing cases against me. Two more cases were found after searching in the last three days. According to the Election Commission’s instructions, necessary documents including case details have to be submitted while submitting nomination papers. That is why I came to the court and applied for bail despite the missing case. The court granted me bail in a fair manner.”

It is worth noting that Dr. M. A. Qayyum is continuing his election preparations as the BNP’s nominated candidate for Dhaka-11 constituency in the upcoming national elections.
