Cultural Advisor Mostafa Sarwar Farooqui said that action is being taken after looking at the CCTV camera footage of everyone involved in the attack and looting of Chhayanaut Bhaban.
On Friday (December 19, 2025) at around 2:30 pm, he visited Chhayanaut Bhaban in Shankar, Dhanmondi, saw the damaged areas and discussed with Chhayanaut organizer Partha Tanvir Naved and some officials.
After the inspection, the Cultural Advisor told reporters, “Work is underway to bring everyone under the law after looking at the CCTV camera footage. This building has been attacked, a lot of damage has been done. I have informed the Chhayanaut authorities that the government will provide all kinds of assistance, including financial assistance, so that the institution can be started quickly after assessing the damage and completing all the renovation activities. The members of the Chhayanaut management committee have discussed among themselves and said they will inform us about this.
“We are taking maximum measures for the security of this building. BGB and police are engaged in strict security outside Chhayanaut. I have also discussed this issue with other members of the advisory council,” he said.
In response to a journalist’s question, he said, “This is definitely a conspiracy to sabotage the election. Today we are supposed to talk about Shaheed Osman Hadi. Today we are supposed to mourn. Who has changed the subject? Who attacked Prothom Alo, Daily Star, Chhayanaut? Those who did it do not want a democratic transition in Bangladesh.”
The cultural advisor further said, “In this moment of national mourning, a class of stubborn people have attacked the cultural organization ‘Chhayanaut’ with the aim of destabilizing the country and causing damage. Attacking any cultural organization on the death of the deceased Hadi is not only a criminal offense, but also goes against the spirit of the July mass uprising.”
