Orientation and skill development workshop on ‘Citizen Service Bangladesh’ held in Chandpur

Entrepreneurs at the field level are the most important ally in the successful implementation of the ongoing initiative to deliver government services to the doorsteps of citizens, such comments emerged at the orientation and skill development workshop on ‘Citizen Service Bangladesh’ held in Chandpur.

The workshop was held on Thursday (January 8, 2026) at the Chandpur Upazila Parishad auditorium under the initiative of the Information and Communication Technology Department and in collaboration with the district administration and Aspire to Innovate (a2i).

Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, Special Assistant to the Principal Advisor in charge of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, was present as the chief guest at the workshop.

In his speech as the chief guest, Faiz Ahmed Tayyab said that the real success of government services is not limited to just infrastructure development or the addition of modern technology; Rather, the most important criterion is to achieve the trust and satisfaction of the service recipient. He said that when citizens get easy, fast and hassle-free services, their trust in the state is strengthened. He further said that the Citizen Service Centers will significantly reduce the time, cost and suffering of the citizens by ensuring integrated services under one roof. Along with this, emphasizing on ensuring the security of information and data, he said that all parties – individuals, institutions and the government – must be aware of information security.

In his speech as the chairman of the workshop, Deputy Commissioner Md. Nazmul Islam Sarkar said that the activities of the Citizen Service Centers have already achieved significant progress and are being expanded step by step to the union, municipality and upazila levels of the district. He said that there is no alternative to ICT education to develop technology-based skilled human resources and through the Citizen Service Centers, the government will be able to deliver fast, transparent and quality services to the doorsteps of the people.

The entrepreneurs participating in the workshop said that their understanding of the ‘Citizen Service Bangladesh’ initiative has become clearer and they pledged to be actively involved in the implementation of Citizen Service Centers in their respective areas.

Abdullah Al Fahim, Head of Project Management of a2i, and Md. Nabir Uddin, Senior System Analyst of the Information and Communication Technology Department, were present as special guests at the event. Ekramul Siddique, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) of Chandpur, delivered the welcome speech.

In addition, Additional Superintendent of Police Lutfar Rahman, Mohammad Shafiul Azam, Head of Communications of a2i, Ashok Kumar Biswas, Capacity Development Coordinator, and relevant officials of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology were present at the event.

It is worth noting that a total of 100 entrepreneurs selected from the Digital Centers of Unions, Municipalities, Upazilas and Zilla Parishads of Chandpur, Lakshmipur and Noakhali districts participated in the workshop.
