Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has alleged fraud, rigging and tampering with the result sheets in the 13th National Parliament election in a news briefing on Saturday (February 14, 2026). The briefing was given by the party’s Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Publicity and Media Department, Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair.

Present at the time were Maulana Abdul Halim, Member Secretary of Jamaat’s National Election Steering Committee, Assistant Secretary General Advocate Muazzam Hossain Helal, Dhaka-6 constituency candidate and Dhaka Metropolitan South Jamaat Assistant Secretary Dr. Abdul Mannan, elected MP from Pabna-1 constituency Barrister Nazibur Rahman Momen and National Election Steering Committee member, senior journalist Oli Ullah Noman.

In the briefing, Advocate Zubair said that there have been incidents of injuries and deaths in attacks at various places in the post-election period. Complaints have been made to the local administration in these matters and urgent action has been called for. He claimed that in the recently concluded elections, various irregularities including rigging, fraud, obstruction of voters from voting, and expulsion of polling agents from the centers have taken place in many places.

He further alleged that vote fraud, overwriting and erasure of result sheets have taken place in at least 30 constituencies. He said that the relevant returning officers were informed about these matters on the election day itself. He also claimed that there were indications of biased behavior through unusual delay in declaring results in some constituencies and quick declaration of results in some other constituencies. In cases where there are allegations of irregularities and violation of the code of conduct, a recount of votes has been requested and the matter will be reported to the Election Commission and necessary legal action will be taken, he said.

Regarding the electoral violence, Advocate Zubair said that the party winning the majority of seats is not taking visible steps to control its leaders and activists. They want to see a violence-free Bangladesh, where there will be freedom of expression and political competition, but no violence of any kind.

Regarding the petition for recounting the votes, Advocate Muazzam Hossain Helal said that if the recount is conducted in the concerned constituencies, the real results will be revealed and they are hopeful that some of those who were shown as losers will emerge as winners.

Dhaka-6 constituency candidate Dr. Abdul Mannan raised allegations of rigging of results in some centers of his constituency. He said that they have evidence of irregularities such as mismatched names of agents in the result sheet, absence of NID numbers of agents, overwriting, use of carbon copies, writing with pencil, absence of names of polling agents, use of photocopied result sheets and writing the name of the center with pen instead of print. At this time, he showed the original copy of the result sheet to the journalists.

Dr. Mannan also said that although a petition was filed to suspend the results at 12:58 am on February 12, the gazette was published without taking it into account. In addition, an application was filed on January 14 to remove the office of the Election Commission of Dhaka-6 constituency, alleging that it was set up in the building of a rival candidate, but no action was taken.

The constituencies that applied for a recount of votes include: Dhaka-7, Dhaka-8, Dhaka-10, Dhaka-13, Dhaka-17, Panchagarh-1, Thakurgaon-2, Dinajpur-3, Dinajpur-5, Lalmonirhat-1, Lalmonirhat-2, Gaibandha-4, Bogra-3, Sirajganj-1, Jessore-3, Khulna-3, Khulna-5, Barguna-2, Jhalokati-1, Pirojpur-2, Mymensingh-1, Mymensingh-4, Mymensingh-10, Kishoreganj-3, Gopalganj-2, Brahmanbaria-5, Chandpur-4, Chittagong-14 and Cox’s Bazar-4.
