Bangladesh-Pakistan agree to joint initiative to implement Safe City project and combat terrorism

Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed at his office at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday (March 01, 2026) afternoon.

During the meeting, discussions were held on strengthening cooperation between the two countries on the implementation of the ‘Safe City’ project and database registration. In addition, there was a cordial exchange of views on various issues of mutual interest, including counter-terrorism, signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on mutual cooperation between the police academies of the two countries, exchange of criminals or prisoners, and cooperation in the drone sector.

The regional situation and the progress of Bangladesh-Pakistan bilateral relations were also discussed in detail in the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Home Minister welcomed the High Commissioner. At the time, the High Commissioner congratulated the newly appointed Home Minister on fulfilling his new responsibilities and expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries would be further strengthened in the future.
